Christmas Cardmaking Classes

Here atre the three designs of cards we will be creating on Monday, 19th November at 7pm.  I am also repeating this class on Saturday, 1st December at 2pm if you can't make the first one.
Please call me to book on 0402 276 324

PS.  I've also set a date for my kids cardmaking class.  It will be held at my house on Saturday, 8th December at 1pm.

Knox Christmas Market Night

Thanks to everyone that came and visited my stall at the Knox Christmas Markets at Wahroonga.  It was great fun and a lovely night was had by all.
I packaged up 5 of the same Christmas cards, with stamped envelopes and tied a nice Christmas ribbon and tag around it.  I still have a few left.  They are $15 each.  Better still, why not come along to my Christmas Cardmaking Class on Monday, 19th November at 7pm, where you can make six cards (3 designs) and dazzle your friends with your talent!  Let me know if you'd like to come: 0402 276 324.
This is one of the cards we will be creating.  This was inspired by an Australian lady, whose name escapes me.  If you recognise this card, please let me know so I can credit her properly.  I found it by Googling the stamp set 'Lovely as a Tree' and the word christmas together and thousands of cards come up to inspire you.  So, any stamp set you own, just Google it and look at the images- there are thousands of them!

Next Cardmaking Date

Each person will make 6 cards, 2 of each design plus envelopes.  $20  It will be held at my house in Wahroonga.  I have all my Christmas CDs ready to play!

Monday, 5th November, 7pm  Christmas Card Making.  We will be making 3 different designs using two stamp sets.  I will post pictures soon.  The stamp sets we'll be using are:  Jolly Bingo Bits and Delightful Decorations.  Hope you can make it.

Jar of Hearts

This is another one of the cards we will be making at my 'Prefectly Preserved class on Saturday, 1st Dec at 2pm.  The jar stamp is really versatile as it can be a jar of anything, really- jam, hearts, flowers or even buttons.  I stamped the jar onto a separate piece of Crumbcake cardstock and, to make the string stay where I wanted it to, I cut ridges into the the top of the jar.  I ran the hearts through an embossing folder to give it a bit of texture.  I also used Stampin' Dimensionals to make the jar stand out a bit from the page.

Perfectly Preserved

I had a lot of fun creating this card.  I was inspired by an American Stampin'Up! demonstrator called Jamilla Ivits.  She used woodgrain paper for her background, but I was wondering what it would look like using the woodgrain embossing folder and I was happy with the results.
I used string for the stems of the pears.  It gives it quite a rustic look and would be suitable for a male birthday card.   This is one of three designs we will be making at my card class on Saturday, 1st December at 2pm.  Email me at cookv3@tpg.com.au if you would like to join me.

Tomorrow I will post something else I have made from this set.

My Favourite Birthday Card...

I have just had my birthday and this year my birthday card tally was at an all-time low.  This all changed today, when my friend Janet gave me this great card.  She made it for her son's to sign.

IIf you are having trouble reading this, it says: 'Like sands through the hourglass, so too are the days of your life...'  It really made me laugh.  I was impressed as she had used all her Stampin' Up! stuff to make it.  The only disturbing part of this card is that there appears to be more sand that has passed through than is left!!

Coming Events

Catalogue Launch

On Saturday I had my catalogue launch.  Each guest recieved a stamp, a catalogue, a holiday catalogue (Christmas) and got to make some things.  This is what the bags looked like.  I used Betsy's Blossoms which is a new stamp set.  This set looks great in bright, bold colours.

We made little flowers, which you will see below.  I will post instructions on how to make them on my next post.  We then made a card using Betsy's Blossoms and the new woodgrain embossing folder (called Textured Impresions folder).  I used Tangerine Tango cardstock for the first time and am pretty pleased with the way it turned out.  What I like the most was when I showed my guests the sample card, they slightly changed it to suit their own taste.  I think they turned out beautifully!
That's the beauty of stamping- you can all use the same sets and materials but give everything a different look.  I love the feeling of satisfaction I get when I give a card and the recipient says,"Wow!  Did you make this?"

Thanks, Castle Cove!

We had so much fun at the Castle Cove Jubilee Fair !  Anne and I met so many wonderful people there.  We were both really surprised how many people had already heard of Stampin'Up! before and how crafty people are!  The weather was just perfect.  We sold lots of cards and got the new catalogue into people's hands.

We also set up a little make'n'take for anyone that wanted to use the Big Shot (cutting and embossing tool) and have a go at stamping.  A great day was had by all.

Masculine Card Crusade

So, this would be the easiest card that was ever made.  I had some left over papers and saw a card like this on the internet.  So If you recognise it, please let me know and I will credit you!  It is simply stripes of scrap patterened paper and on Library Clip and the greeting stamped onto Cajun Craze, lifted up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I really like the rust colour combined with Not Quite Navy.

Nothing says Spring like a fete!

Can't believe it's September already.  I have been very busy making cards for my very first market stall.  My friend Anne Farrar (Stampin'Annie@blogspot.com) and myself are going to sell cards and promote Stampin'Up! at the Castle Cove Public School Spring Fair this Sunday.  We would love it if you dropped by our stall.  It runs from 10am-4pm, this Sunday, 16th September.

For the stall I have been focussing on some masculine cards as these are quite hard to find and make.  The first one I'd like to show you is one that is inpired from an American lady called Mary Fish.  It's using a set that I love but never made it here and it's called You're My Type.  I used my striped embossing folder as well as the Square Lattice.  I love the texture it gives.
This card was made for a work colleague of mine.  I used a stamp set I have been using a lot called Memorable Moments.  It is a versatile set as it's got Happy Birthday, Anniversary and numbers that make lots of different combinations.   I used Marina Mist in the background and distressed the edges using a pair of scissors.

Getting ready for Christmas (Already!)

These are the Christmas Cards I have started making.  I made them using the set Jolly Bingo Bits.  I will post a close up soon!

Happy 16th Birthday!

A very Happy 16th Birthday to my twin neices!  I can't believe it, they can start learning how to drive-amazing.   As I think I have mentioned, my nieces have always been- one pink and one blue, and they still don't deviate from it much.  It's the colour of their clothes, their rooms- everything.

I made these cards out of a new stamp set we got at the Stampin' Up! Convention.  It will be out in September, it's called: Memorable Moments.

Happy Easter with Nature Walk

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter.  On Good Friday, I had my family over for a 'Family Funday Good Friday Garden Clean up Day'.  I have started doing it every Good Friday and it ends up being a lot of fun.  We acheived a lot and the place looks great.

Easter Cards are a little tricky as you need to send them out before the solemn day of Good Friday.  I sent this card out last week.  It is a very close copy of a lady that I saw on You Tube a year ago, so I don't know her name.  It uses a lovely stamp set called Nature Walk (for the eggs) and a retired stamp called Sanded and the Happy Easter is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  To get the eggs different colours, I used the Stamp'n'Write markers- I coloured-in the stamp then breathed on it before stamping it.  It seems strange to see it, but breathing on it re-activates the ink!

Again, Happy Easter,

Party This Way

I have had the Party This Way stamp set for ages, but mainly only used the greeting of 'Happy Birthday'.   I got this set out the other day and had a play with it.  This set looks great in bright colours.  All I did was stamp the ballons and then drew a 'string' with a Stamp'n'Write Marker.  It took me about 5 mins to make and I think it looks really effective.

More Fresh Vintage

Here are two other cards we made on Sunday at the cardmaking day that I held at my house.  I decided to use the Fresh Vintage stamp set again, but only using 'In Colors'.  The 'In Colors' are colours that only hang around for 2 years and then they are gone forever!  The colours are ones that I would not normally use- it's taken me months to use the Calypso Coral!  I also got to use my new postage punch, which I love.
I did a new 'thing' with the ribbon.  I put 'sticky strip' on the ribon itself and then folded it together, then laid out some more sticky strip to attach it to the card.  Normal tape will not hold it.  I put the cardstock through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textrured Impressions Embossing Folders.  Here are close ups of the 2 cards.

Fresh Vintage

Fresh Vintage is a beautiful Stamp set that is free when you spend $100 on Stampin'Up! products.  The special only lasts 'til the end of this month, so let me know if you'd like to put an order in.

For this card, I used one of my favourtite colours- Concord Crush, as I think it is so striking against the white.  The greeting is from a staple stamp set called Sincere salutations.  I used the oval punch for the greeting and punched out 2 ovals in the concord Crush which I used to mat the greeting.  We had a lot of fun making these in all sorts of colours at the cardmaking day at my house on Sunday.

Scrapbooking with Stampin'Up!

As you may already know, scrapbooking was my first love (and you never really get over your first love!).  I went on a scrapbooking weekend last weekend and had the best time- staying awake 'til 2am!  Who knew people would get such joy out of scrapbooking for 3 days and nights!

I wanted to show you how I use my Stampin'Up! supplies in my scrapbooking.  On this weekend I used the Stampin'Up! punches a lot as they are great for using up your scraps.

Boys Birthday cards

This is a very simple card I made for 2 boys who have their birthday this month.  Super easy:  Just stamped their name using the Letter It Stamp Set, cut it out, and mounted it on some Stampin' Dimensionals.  The star paper is from The Big Top Birthday Designer series Paper.  It's great how the paper is specially coordinated with the inks and cardstock.

We will be making 2 of these on the card making day.  I will have all sorts of different colours (I have practically all of them!) so you can do a boy or a girl card or one of each.  The dates are on the righthand side of my blog.

February Birthdays

January and February Birthdays really creep up don't they?  So, I am getting super organised for the months ahead so I won't miss their birthdays.

For these 2 cards, I used the Letter It stamp set, which is great, because it helps you really personalise a card.  The background paper is Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper, which has some lovely soft blues and pinks in it.  I cut out each of the letters (which I stamped in Weisteria Wonder) and mounted them with Stampin' dimensionals to make them stand out.  If you look carefully, you can see tiny pearls in between the letters.  I think everyone likes a card with their own name on it!

Have a Crafty New Year

I just wanted to show everyone the great stuff you can get as a demonstrator.  The picture above is a sample of the things you get in the starter kit:  YOUR choice of paper, YOUR choice of ink colours, YOUR choice of punch and YOUR choice of stamps too.

Stampin'Up! call this time of year Sale-A-bration.  From now until March, you can join Stampin'Up! for just $249.  You also get an extra stamp set of your choice, so choose the most expensive!  I did.

I joined Stampin'Up! this time last year- the deal was too good to refuse!  I love card making and scrapbooking, so I thought:  "Why not? Worst thing that could happen was that I would get $610 worth of product for $249!".  It's been a year now and I have loved showing others how to make beautiful cards to surprise and delight their friends and family.  Even if you don't intend to hold demonstrations, you may wish to join as a hobby and enjoy a 20% discount on all the products.

Feel free to contact me for more information (even if you are just toying with the idea!)

Back to School (almost)

Happy Australia Day!  It's a bit wet, but still great to have a holiday mid week!  It's back to school for most kids next week and I know lots of kids starting school and some starting hight schoool!  I remember my first day of Kindy, the bell rang for recess and one boy walked home thinking the day was over!  I had 40 children in my class and my teacher- Mrs Smelcher used to smoke at her desk(!!!)  Olden days!

As I know lots of kids starting a new chapter in their lives, I made them each a card to let them know I am thinking about them.  I used to love getting a card or letter addressed to just me in the letter box (still do, just not a bill)

For these cards, I kept it really simple and used the owl punch.  This punch is great as it is a great way to use up all your scraps (which I hate throwing away).  I assembled them and stuck a couple of Stampin Dimensionals on the back of them to make them stand out and stamped the phrase 'Good Luck' underneath.  The 'good luck' stamp is from the retired set: Basic Phrases, which is really good for, you guessed it - basic phrases.

Here is a close up.
